It is that time of the year for us to mark our Calendars for state testing! The Atlas Writing summative assessment will be March 6th. All students must be in their testing location by 8am.

By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
The Girls and Boys Sr. Basketball Teams have punched their ticket to the 4A State Tournament!
The tournament will be held from Tuesday, February 27th, to Saturday, March 2nd, in Farmington, AR at Cardinal Arena (12329 North Highway 170, Farmington). Our arena is one of the best facilities in the state, with plenty of parking, and it will accommodate 2400 spectators.
Arkansas Public Safety Solutions (APSS) is providing weapons detection screening by Evolv at the 4A State Basketball Tournament to help keep students and fans safe. Evolv Express relies on cutting-edge sensor technology to differentiate between weapons and everyday objects. However, we kindly request that you avoid carrying items such as umbrellas, stadium seats, laptops, and notebooks with metal binders into the arena to help us expedite the screening process.
February 23rd Calendar of Events:
Students with poor attendance score lower than their peers who attend school regularly on national skills assessments, regardless of race or ethnicity. Chronic absenteeism can be a better predictor of school failure than test scores.
February 22nd Calendar of Events:
Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.

We were honored to have had veterans, Kevin West and Gary Lovell, from the Nathan G. Gordon American Legion Post, speak to our MJHS students about our United States flag. Students learned proper etiquette and folding, along with the meaning of each fold.
